1).During this project I learned that there are still more two parent homes than one parent homes in Decatur, Ga. The hardest part of this project to me was trying to find good survey questions to ask the kids without getting to personal with them. If I were to every do this again I would ask for race on my survey questions so I could break down the different households by race. Another thing i would do is try to survey America to see if they're are more two parent homes than single parent homes in America.
2). This research made me appreciate my life and my two parents. I learned that a kids childhood can be greatly effected with the missing of one parent.

Recomendation
1). A new research question stemming from research cold be Can a single parent home affect racial statistics. If I were to do this again I would make sure to ask about how kids in single parent household feel about it. A follow up survey could do is ask for the race of the questioner so I could see if the racial trends are true.
2). Some social changes i would like to see would parents staying together for the sake of their children. We all know that children need their parents and life without them can be rough and it can have a bad effect on your child's future.
Conclusion
From my graph and statistical data i was able to conclude that almost half of the kids surveyed live in a two parent household, but astonishingly a staggering 35 kids lived in a single parent household. My second graph was able to show me that a large majority of kids agreed that a conflict at home causes a conflict at school which backs up my published source summary which stated that kids living in a single parent household tend to do bad in school. Although the majority of the kids in the survey lived in a two parent household trends from my published source showed a trend of decrease in two parent African American households. This could explain why African Americans have the highest drop out rates and the largest jail population since my published source acknowledged that kids in a single parent household tend to do worse in school and are more likely to get involved in criminal activity.

Published source summary
In 1960 a married couple COULD be found in 78% of African but over the years it has been decreasing. In 1970 the number fell to 64%. This number then plummeted to 48% in 1980. This trend continued and on 1993 it hit 39%. kids are being born into family's that are slowly falling apart. These kids who are being born in these unhealthy marriages are caught in an unstable environment which can harm their social growth

The most common negative effect of living in a single parent household is kids slacking in school. The kids have to much to deal with and usually do this to release some of that built up tension inside if them. Kids in a single parent household are also more likely to end up becoming more likely to get involved in criminal activity. They are also more likely to use drugs and alcohol. These events occur because the kids usually don't have any guidance that they would got from that other parent being in their life. However their are some positives of having a single parent. Kids with single parents can form good bonds with people and they become more emotionally stronger since they were missing an important piece of their life.
